Morehead takes on the Richmond for a spot in the Sweet 16 in just about half an hour…here’s 5 reasons the Eagles can topple the A-10 Spiders.
We all know Kenneth Faried is the best rebounder in the nation, and as a team, the Eagles average 9 more rebounds than their opponents. The Spiders are not a good rebounding team, averaging 5 less a game than Morehead and 2 less a game than their opponents.
2- Richmond doesn’t force turnovers
Quite possibly, turnovers due to sloppy ball handling are the biggest weakness of the Eagles. Luckily, Richmond only forces 12.5 turnovers a game; Morehead forces over 15. The downside? Richmond only turns the ball over 10 times a game.
3- The game should be played at Morehead’s Pace
Why? Because that’s the pace Richmond is used to playing at. Both teams average around 70 points a game. Richmond isn’t going to try and speed up Morehead like Louisville did. It should be comfortable for the guards, which should help reduce turnovers.
4- Morehead is much more rested
I understand these kids are in college, and they don’t need a lot of rest (just ask VCU) but since March 5th, Morehead has only played one game: Thursday against Louisville. Richmond has played 4 since the 11th. This will be their 5th game in 8 days.
