As teams begin to release their (tentative) non-conference schedule, it’s time to see what games could help make or break the teams season. 2nd on the list are the Cougars.
Update: 9/16 – Added Lipscomb To Cancun Challenge Schedule. November 23rd game will be against either Hampton or Sacred Heart.
Much like Austin Peay, Edwardsville has done a great job at scheduling the top in-state teams. The matchup with SIU Carbondale is intriguing, although probably one sided.
There’s probably 4-5 winnable games on this schedule, 2-3 if we don’t count the two non Division I opponents. If I were to pick a “must-win”, it’s December 3rd against Cal State Fullerton. This is one of only 2 D-I schools Edwardsville hosts. It’s hard to pick up road wins regardless of how tough the opponent, and you have to protect home court.
I’m not sure about Edwardsvills status as a Bracketbuster opponent. They weren’t invited last year, and they’re not full D-I / OVC members until next year, so I wouldn’t think they’ll get an invite, but the date is listed on here just in case.
