So if you check back to my weekend Final Word
I said I’m trying to remain patient with the Governors, who are winless on the season.
And I’m still trying to do so. Remember, when I ranked the schedules, Austin Peay’s was rated as the toughest non-conference schedule.
But they’re still making it really, really hard.
But if you’ve written off the Govs after 4 losses, you’re going to find yourself surprised when OVC play begins.
Mark my words, the Governors will make a run, and will be a top 4 team in the conference.
Here’s tonight’s Final Word:
[Austin Peay 72, Bowling Green 82] What has happened to Tyshwan Edmondson
? Better yet, where is he. The preseason all-OVC pick has all but disappeared through 4 games, and continued that disappearing act again with just 9 points on 4-11 shooting. 4 other Governors reached double digits in the loss. On the plus side, Edmondson did pull down 6 boards. I’m not sure the last time a team shot over 50% and lost a game by 10 points, but when you commit 19 turnovers and only force 13, when you allow 15 offensive rebounds, and when you barely hit 50% from the free throw line, (14-27) you’re going to lose more often than not. John Fraley
cannot come back soon enough for the Govs, but I’m not sure that will be a cure-all for the team’s struggles.
