Is this the day Austin Peay gets into the win column? The Governors are on the road again, this time traveling to a 3-3 Lipscomb team that just edged SIU Edwardsville less than a week ago.
Here’s today’s first word:
[Austin Peay at Lipscomb, 6:30 p.m.] Expect a lot of scoring as 2 of most up tempo teams so far this season in college basketball face off. The Bisons have not been a great defensive team either, meaning the Governors should have a good chance to score. Austin Peay must stop senior guard Jordan Burgason, who is averaging 20 points a game and shooting 63% from the floor. These teams met twice last year, with both games being a 3 point win for the home team.
[San Francisco St. vs Jacksonville State, 7:00 p.m.] So this game gets an exception on my refusal to previews games against teams in a lower division because it’s part of the Shamrock Classic. But that being said, there’s not that much to preview. The Gators are a 1-5 D-II school that has hit 46% from the field for a season, but has allowed their opponents to shoot even better, 48%. They play deep into their bench, and have 3 players averaging double figure scoring. All that being said, still should be a double digit win for the Gamecocks.
