Did you see the score of the UT Martin – Tennessee State women’s game tonight. 114-105. In regulation. A combined 10 players finished in double digit scoring, with 2 Skyhawks scoring more than 30 points.
I think Jacksonville State’s men could learn a thing or two from them.
Here’s today’s Final Word:
[Jacksonville State 56, SEMO 74] You will not win many basketball games in any conference shooting 31% from the field. Especially when you much stronger defense gives up 50% shooting and a 15-0 second half run.
A tweet from @JSUGamecocks noted that all 3 teams that have beaten JSU are undefeated in conference. Well, that happens when you’re just 3 games into the season, and you’re winless. As I’ve said in regards to Austin Peay, it’s too late in the season to be talking about difficult schedules. You’re in conference play now, you’re expected to win.
Leon Powell was largely ineffective for SEMO, but the Redhawks get a big night from Marcus Brister and Tyler Stone. And this shows something about the Redhawks you can’t say about a lot of teams in the OVC: They can win in different ways. Even when their leader has a bad night, other players can step up to fill the gap.
