Is Morehead State getting better? A lot better? A top-100 RPI win on the road, with their top scorer out to injury has to be turning some heads in the conference. Is this team now poised to make a late season run?
Do I have any more questions to ask?
Here’s tonight’s Final Word:
[Morehead State 75, Norfolk State 69] Remember when I talked about Norfolk State’s perimeter defense in the first word? About that…
The Eagles hit 11 3’s, helping to overcome 19 turnovers, and pick up their best win of the season on the road against Norfolk State.
Kyle O’Quinn is kept mostly in check, scoring only 14 points thanks to a 6-12 performance from the FT line. As a team, the Spartans hit just 11-23 from the charity stripe, as they continue to struggle from the stripe.
Drew Kelly has another big game for the Eagles, but was surpassed in scoring by Ty Profitt thanks to 4-5 shooting from 3. And remember how I talked about Norfolk State’s size in the First Word. Not much of an advantage tonight as 6’3″ freshman Angelo Warner pulled down a game high 12 rebounds, falling just one point short of a double-double. The Eagles actually out rebounded the larger Spartans by 9 on the game.
