According to multiple sources, Morehead State guard Lamont Austin has been arrested for a DUI and possession of marijuana, just 2 days before his Eagles were set to open OVC Tournament play in the quarterfinals.
The Morehead News reports that Austin has been suspended, and did not make the trip with the team to Nashville.
Obviously, that means Austin will be unavailable to play in the tournament.
The senior guard is the team’s best set up-man, leading the team with 3.2 assists a game. He averaged just over 4 points, and 4 rebounds, playing an average of 25 minutes in all 31 games this season.
Austin had been a starter for much of the season. With the team already being short a guard due to Terrance Hill’s injury, it could have a big impact on the team’s depth, not as much an issue for tonight’s game, but games deeper in the tournament.
