The OVC has been slow to announce signings so far during this spring recruiting period, but Austin Peay is on the board with 6’2″ combo guard AJ Lynch.

As a senior at Blount High School in Mobile, Alabama, Lynch averaged 18 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists per game. He was named a two-time second-team all-region selection.

He will have a lot of competition in Clarksville, being one of 4 freshman (so far) being added to Austin Peay’s program next year0 (although he is the only one capable of playing point), and will likely fight for minutes with Herdie Lawrence and Jerome Clyburn, although neither really shined at the point guard position last year.

They may be calling Lynch a “combo guard,” but it’s clear that the Governors are in need of a solid point guard. If Lynch wants to get good minutes early, that’s a solid hold he’ll be able to fill.

If he wants to be more of a 2-guard? It’s not out of the question he could fill that position quickly as well, with Tyshawn Edmondson graduating after this past season.
