If you haven’t heard about how former Morehead State star Kenneth Faried is doing in the NBA, you must not be paying too much attention, because he’s doing really, really well in his rookie season. But there are a few other OVC players of note picking up short 10-game contracts.
Former Murray State standout James Singleton is back in the NBA after finishing a season in China. (Yes, he’s one of those players that went to the Chinese league during the NBA lockout, even knowing they wouldn’t be allowed out of their contracts until the season was over) He’s back with the Wizards, where he played 32 games last season after being traded from Dallas. His first game back was a bit…er…rusty. 14 minutes, 0-2 shooting, 2 rebounds, and 5 personal fouls.
He didn’t do that bad in China, where he averaged 17.8 points and 11.9 rebounds while shooting 58% from the floor in 43 games with the Guandong Southern Tigers.
Former UT Martin star Lester Hudson is back in the league, on a 10-game contract with the Cleveland Cavs. He’s averaging 20 minutes a game over the past 4 games, only shooting about 32% from the field, but pulling down almost 4 boards a contest, dishing out over 3 assists, and scoring just under 7 points per game. Too bad he’s on the Cavs…
As for the Manimal, Faried looks like he could have a bright future ahead of him. He’s started 27 contests for the Nuggets this year, putting up almost 10 points, and over 7 rebounds per game. They’d like to see a bit more out of him offensively, but all in all he’s having an amazing rookie season in Denver.
