Is there trouble brewing in Cape?
Seemingly coming out of nowhere, highly touted freshman Nino Johnson has transferred out of SEMO and has enrolled at Northeast Mississippi Community College.
Yes, you read that right. Johnson is leaving a Division I program seemingly on the rise to head to a community college program.
There’s likely little doubt that Johnson, a 6’9″ forward considered by some as a top-25 forward out of high school, probably wasn’t thrilled about playing just under 8 minutes a game last season. But on a team with such talented forwards as Leon Powell and Tyler Stone, it shouldn’t exactly have been unexpected. And with Powell graduating, it’s likely that Johnson would have a great shot at being a full time starter this season.
He will, without almost any doubt, be a full time starter at Northeast.
Interesting decision by Johnson, and not one that most SEMO fans likely wanted to hear.
