According to WPSD, Steve Prohm has confirmed that freshman Jaylen Bland and Harley Nussman are transfering out of Murray State. This change will reduce the Racers roster down to 13 scholarship players, the limit allowed under NCAA rules.
Neither of these should be a great surprise to Racer fans. Neither played significant minutes, and it was clear at the end of the season that the program would have to get rid of two scholarhsip players to meet that 13-scholarship limit.
It’s the second straight season the Racers have lost 2 freshman after the season. And the 6th straight year (at least) that the Racers have had at least one player leave the program for reasons other than graduation.
It’s hard not to feel especially bad for Bland, who made the trip to Racer nation from California. I think it likely that he finds another program to play with, as will Nussman.
