The Governors are following in the footsteps of the Racers (and many, many other teams) and taking their team to Canada for early exhibition games this summer.

The school will play three games over five days starting on August 17th.

As a result of the exhibition, the team will also have 10-days of practice leading up to the trip.

Trips like these can be invaluable to teams, especially for a team like Austin Peay coming off one of the most disappointing seasons in memory. The Governors also are bringing is their fair share of new players this year, (including 4 freshman) and this gives the team a chance to get accustomed to playing together well ahead of other programs.

Head coachDave Loos is happy to get the opportunity.

“This type trip is most advantageous when you have either a new coaching staff coming in or you have a new team, one in which there are young or guys who have not played a lot of minutes,” Loos said. “We are the latter. We have four freshmen coming in and we have other young guys who have not played a lot of minutes previously.  This will give an opportunity to gain some experience and hopefully begin developing some team chemistry.”
