Despite what you may have heard, don’t expect to see Cornelius Chatt in a SIU Edwardsville uniform this season.
Joe Pott, sports information director at SIU Edwardsville, says he was told the notion of Chatt returning is “laughable.”
After leading the Cougars in scoring in the 2010-11 season, the SIU Edwardsville guard was forced to sit out all of last season after being ruled academically ineligible. Chatt remained in school at SIU Edwardsville, and there was hope he could possibly return to the team this season. That hope was renewed this summer as multiple people, including Allen Lewis of ecougarzone, reportedly were told by Chatt through Twitter that he was returning to the team.
Chatt ‘s was ruled ineligible after the 2010-11 season because he wasn’t properly progressing towards graduation, according to the school.
In the 2010-11 season, Chatt played in 28 games, averaging 12.1 points off of 41% shooting from the field.
