SIUE men’s basketball Head Coach Lennox Forrester has announced that Deangelo Stewart (Detroit) has signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball for the Cougars beginning with the 2013-2014 season.

Stewart attends Cass Technical High School where he averaged 13 points, eight rebounds, and two blocks per game as a junior last year.

“Deangelo is a very versatile player,” Forrester said. “He can score from inside and outside because of his athleticism. He also is a good defender who can block shots.”

Forrester believes the 6-foot, 6-inch forward will add to the program.

“He’s a great kid,” Forrester said. “He’s a good student-athlete with a high basketball I.Q. He will bring a lot to our team.”

Cass Technical High School is the same high school that current men’s basketball players Derian Shaffer and Kris Davis attended.
