Southeast Missouri added guard Darrian Gray Monday.

Gray, who stands at 6’5”, 185 pounds, joins the Redhawks from Lake Land College, where he averaged nine points and five rebounds in 23 games last season. He dished out 17 assists, added 17 steals and shot 43.8 percent (75-of-171) from the field,  helping lead the Lakers to a 22-10 record. Lake Land College is a member of the Great Rivers Athletic Conference, one of the tougher junior college conferences in the nation.

“Darrian can really shoot the basketball,” added Nutt. “He is a big and athletic guard. He will have one semester at Southeast before starting his junior campaign and that is an advantage for us.”

A native of Memphis, Tenn., Gray played at nationally-known Southwind High School where he garnered All-Conference, All-District and All-Region honors. He averaged 24 points and six rebounds, and was named the Most Valuable Player of the Atlanta vs. Memphis Christmas Tournament as a senior.

Gray left Southwind and attended Navarro College as a true freshman, where he averaged six points and three rebounds. He was also recruited by Alabama, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Idaho, Murray State and Tennessee State. Gray will enroll at Southeast this spring.
