Charges have been dropped against Janawski Davis, the Murray State freshman wide receiver charged after an alleged armed robbery at the Chase in late November. According to the Murray Ledger and Times, the officer investigating the case says there’s insufficient evidence to proceed.
Commonwealth Attorney Mark Blankenship says the investigation into the armed robbery claim will continue. “That just means that there’s a problem that has developed,” Blankenship told the paper, “and we need to stop proceeding with the case for a while. Right now, the case just does not add up, but we are continuing to investigate.”
Davis’ attorney Ricky Lampkin also commented on the situation . ““We presented a number of records and witnesses with this because we have the belief that he is innocent,” Lamkin said. “My client wasn’t near the alleged robbery scene.”
It is unclear what the next step in the case will be.
