Jacksonville State signed 21 players to play for the Gamecocks during Wednesday’s National Signing Day.

TY ANDERSON
Tight End – 6-3 – 220 – Cumming, Ga. – West Forsyth HS
An honorable mention all-state performer as a senior in 2012 for head coach Frank Hepler of West Forsyth High School in Cumming, Ga…a first-team all-county and all-region selection in each his junior and senior seasons…led the Wolverines to a 10-2 record and the Georgia High School Association’s Clas AAAAAA Region 6 championship in 2012…a member of the National Honor Society and the National Technical Honor Society…played for Hoover High School in Birmingham before transferring to West Forsyth before his junior season.

AUSTIN BISHOP
Offensive Lineman – 6-4 – 275 – Piedmont, Ala. – Piedmont HS
A four-year letterman for head coach Steve Smith at Piedmont High School in Piedmont, Ala…the Bulldogs’ team captain as a senior in 2012, when he led them to a 12-1 record and a No. 1 ranking in Class 3A in the AHSAA polls for much of the season…an all-county and all-region honoree in each his junior and senior seasons, and was named to The Anniston Star’s Dandy Dozen Team and the Pigskin Roundup Team after grading out at 92 percent as a senior…In four seasons, helped PHS to a combined 49-6 record, three region titles and one AHSAA Class 3A state title in 2009…was also an all-county selection in baseball for the Bulldogs in 2010.

LEDARRIUS BOWE
Running Back – 5-7 – 175 – Jackson, Ala. – Jackson HS
A four-year letterman for head coach Danny Powell at Jackson High School in Jackson, Ala…rushed for 3,900 yards and 54 touchdowns in his career…ran for 900 yards and 11 touchdowns as a senior for the Aggies, despite playing in just nine games because of injury…was named the team’s Offensive Back of the Year in 2011 and 2012…as a junior, was an all-state honorable mention after leading the AHSAA Class 4A state champions with 1,800 rushing yards and 23 touchdowns, while also racking up 500 receiving yards and seven scores…earned Player of the Week honors six times…received Top Running Back honors by the Mobile Press-Register…had his best game against Greenville High School, when he ran for 182 yards on 15 carries, running for two touchdowns and catching another.

EARL CALLOWAY
Wide Receiver – 6-1 – 185 – Tallahassee, Fla. – Godby HS
A standout wide receiver for head coach Ronnie Cottrell at Godby High School in Tallahassee, Fla…hauled in 43 catches for 602 yards and seven touchdowns to lead the Cougars to the FHSAA Class 5A State Championship as a senior in 2012, earning him first team all-district and second team all-state honors…averaged 14 yards per catch as a senior…played in the Florida-Georgia All-Star Game and earned the GHS Coaches’ Award…in his junior and senior seasons, combined for over 1,100 yards and 14 touchdowns on 75 catches…had his best game against Orange Park in his junior season, when he caught eight passes for 158 yards.

DYLAN CLINE
Defensive Lineman – 6-4 – 265 – McCalla, Ala. – McAdory HS
Played for head coach David Powell at McAdory High School in McCalla, Ala…was a first team all-state performer as a senior in 2012, when he was also named the Birmingham News West Lineman of the Year…led the Yellow Jackets to a 14-1 record and the AHSAA Class 5A state championship game as a senior by recording 90 tackles, seven for a loss, and four sacks…was a part of every facet of the Yellow Jackets’ games, registering 26 pancake blocks on the offensive line and averaging 35 yards per punt as their starting punter…the son of Jackie Cline, who was a defensive lineman at Alabama from 1981-84 before playing professionally for the Detroit Lions, Miami Dolphins and Pittsburgh Steelers.

DAMIEN DAVENPORT
D
efensive Lineman – 6-2 – 275 – McIntosh, Ala. – McIntosh HS
The anchor of head coach Renard Davis’ defensive line at McIntosh High School in McIntosh, Ala…a four-time all-state selection for the Demon Deacons and a member of the Mobile Press-Register All-Region First Team as a senior in 2012…was named the Alabama Sports Writers Association’s Class 1A Lineman of the Year and was a finalist for the State Lineman of the Year in 2012 after playing both ways for MHS, finishing with 34 tackles and 17 sacks on defense…amassed 166 tackles and 29 sacks over his career…was a team captain, leading the Demon Deacons to the playoffs four times, including the semifinals in 2012…also plays basketball for the Demon Deacons.

MICHAEL DAVIS
Defensive Back – 6-1 – 210 – Geraldine, Ala. – Geraldine HS
A four-year letterman for head coach Tim Arnold and Geraldine High School in Geraldine, Ala…named County and Region MVP as a senior in 2012…was the Bulldogs’ MVP in each his sophomore, junior and senior seasons…was an honorable mention all-state performer in 2011 and 2012, and was a three-time all-county and all-region player…on the offensive side of the ball, ran for 1,170 yards and 26 touchdowns on 98 carries, while intercepting three passes on defense…was named Player of the Week twice by the Sand Mountain Reporter and the Mountain Valley News and once by WQSV TV…led the Bulldogs to the regional title in 2012, just the second one in school history.

RODNEY DAVIS
Wide Receiver – 6-1 – 205 – Millbrook, Ala. – East Mississippi CC
Played at East Mississippi Community College in Scooba, Miss…led the Lions to the MACJC State Championship and the NJCAA National Title in 2011, when he hauled in 49 catches for 1,009 yards and 11 touchdowns…also returned 30 kickoffs for 714 yards and returned a missed field goal 108 yards…as a freshman in 2010, caught 29 passes for 456 yards and six touchdowns, while returning 28 kicks a total of 622 yards…prepped for head coach Jeff Foshee at Stanhope Elmore in Millbrook, Ala.

RAMAR DENNIS
Linebacker – 6-1 – 225 – Orlando, Fla. – Olympia HS
Played for head coach Bob Head at Olympia High School in Orlando…was a team captain and the Defensive Player of the Year for the Titans as a senior in 2012, when he also earned all-county honors…racked up 132 tackles, 80 solo, for an average of 12 stops per game…in his career with OHS, amassed over 240 tackles and more than 40 for a loss…rated as a two-star recruit by Scout.com…received 12 Division I offers, including Syracuse, South Florida, Southern Miss, Cincinnati, Illinois, East Carolina, Northern Illinois and South Alabama.

TRE’ GARLAND
Wide Receiver – 6-3 – 185 – Thomasville, Ga. – Thomasville HS
Played four seasons for head coach Richie Marsh at Thomasville High School in Thomasville, Ga…was selected to play in the Georgia-Florida All-Star Game, where he grabbed five catches for 80 yards…had his best game for THS against Pelham in his senior season finale, when he caught seven passes for 128 yards and two touchdowns, one from 37 yards out and the other from nine yards…has a 3.3 GPA at THS.

CASEY HUNT
Offensive Lineman – 6-4 – 285 – Oneonta, Ala. – Oneonta HS
Played three seasons for head coach Don Jacobs at Oneonta High School in Oneonta, Ala…was an all-state selection in 2012, when he helped guide the Redskins to a 14-1 record and their second-straight trip to the AHSAA Class 4A State Championship Game…was also a first team all-district and all-region performer…led the Redskins to a combined 26-4 record in his final two seasons…in 2012, anchored an offensive line that paved the way for an offense that scored 665 points, an average of over 44 per game…a member of the National Honor Society.

DARIUS JACKSON
Defensive Back – 6-2 – 205 – Bessemer, Ala. – McAdory HS
Played for head coach David Powell at McAdory High School in McCalla, Ala…was an all-state selection as a senior after helping the Yellow Jackets to a 14-1 record and to the AHSAA Class 5A State Championship Game…led the team with 142 tackles and eight tackles for a loss…had his best game against Wenonah, when he recorded 15 tackles, intercepted two passes and notched two pass break-ups in a 13-0 win.

LaKENDRICK JAMES
Defensive Back – 5-9 – 175 – Jackson, Ala. – Jackson HS
Played for head coach Danny Powell at Jackson High School in Jackson, Ala…a two-time all-state selection by the Alabama Sports Writers Association and a two-time all-region performer…intercepted six passes as a senior in 2012, to go along with 92 tackles…led the Aggies to the 2011 AHSAA Class 4A State Championship, setting new Super 6 records for interceptions in a game with three and for longest interception return at 94 yards…in three seasons, led JHS to a combined 33-2 record and two region titles.

ANTHONY JOHNSON
Tight End– 6-5 – 220 – Maplesville, Ala. – Maplesville HS
A four-year starter for head coach Brent Hubbert at Maplesville High School in Maplesville, Ala…helped the Red Devils to region titles in each of his last three seasons and a combined 28-1 region record in his four-year career…started on both sides of the ball in all 51 games of his career…was named the team’s MVP and captain as a senior in 2012, when he also garnered all-state accolades…a three-time all-region performer, hauled in 120 catches for 2,360 yards and 26 touchdowns in his career, while picking up 289 tackles, 25 for a loss, 10 sacks, 11 interceptions, seven forced fumbles and five fumble recoveries on defense…as a senior in 2012, caught 50 passes for 945 yards and 12 touchdowns…named Montgomery Quarterback Club Player of the Week after a 41-21 win over St. Lukes in the second round of the 2012 AHSAA Playoffs…was the only Class 1A player on the Alabama roster in the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game in 2012…rated a three-star recruit by 247sports.com…also plays basketball for the Red Devils and averaged more than 20 points per game in 2012.

JARREN JOHNSON
Wide Receiver – 5-11 – 195 – Jackson, Ala. – Jackson HS
Played for head coach Danny Powell at Jackson High School in Jackson, Ala…an all-state selection in each his junior and senior seasons…led the Aggies to a combined 34-4 record over his final three seasons, including a pair of region titles and the 2011 AHSAA Class 4A State Championship…was named MVP of the 2011 State Championship Game after catching 10 passes for 188 yards and two touchdowns, while running 13 times for 96 yards and a score…in his junior season, caught 76 passes for 1,088 yards and 13 touchdowns, while returning three kicks for scores…in the 2012 preseason, was rated the No. 15 prospect in Alabama by Scout.com and the No. 27 prospect in the state by Rivals.com…rated a three-star recruit.

JUSTIN LEA
Offensive Lineman/Defensive Lineman – 6-4 – 260 – Ider, Ala. – Ider HS
Played for head coach Brent Tinker at Ider High School in Ider, Ala…was an all-state selection in each his junior and senior seasons…a four-time all-county and all-region selection and received all-county honors from the Fort Payne Times-Journal…averaged a 91 percent grade with 44 pancake blocks as a junior and 49 as a senior on the offensive line…intercepted three passes on the defensive front, returning two of them for touchdowns…led the Hornets to their first region title in 13 years as a freshman in 2009…was Ider’s Bryant-Jordan Scholar Athlete and Wendy’s High School Heisman honoree.

SIRAN NEAL
Safety – 6-1 – 180 – Eufaula, Ala. – Eufaula HS
Played his senior season for head coach Dan Klages at Eufaula High School in Eufaula, Ala…a first team all-state selection as an athlete as a senior in 2012, when he led the Tigers to an 8-3 record…hauled in 22 catches for 377 yards, more than 17 yards per catch, and eight touchdowns…played for head coach Alphus Shipman at Abbeville High School in Abbeville, Ala., before transferring to Eufaula…was an all-state wide receiver for the Yellow Jackets in 2011, when he caught 54 passes and 13 touchdowns…was listed at No. 44 on the top prospect list…rated as a two-star recruit by Scout.com.

JUSTICE OWENS
Wide Receiver/Running Back – 5-11 – 185 – Alexandria, Ala. – Alexandria HS
Played for head coach Frank Tucker at Alexandria High School in Alexandria, Ala…was a first team all-state selection by the Alabama Sports Writers Association as a senior in 2012, when he had 60 tackles and four interceptions from the defensive back position…on the offensive side of the ball, he had 1,502 rushing yards, 16 touchdowns and over 2,000 all-purpose yards…also caught 19 passes for 543 yards and six scores…averaged 7.33 yards per carry and 28.5 yards per reception.

TOBY PEE
Wide Receiver – 6-0 – 190 – Sardis, Ala. – Sardis HS
Played for head coach Gene Hill at Sardis High School in Boaz, Ala…was a first team all-state selection by the Alabama Sports Writers Association in each his junior and senior seasons…a four-time all-region performer that amassed over 5,000 rushing yards in his career…led the lions to their first region title in 23 years as a junior in 2011, when he ran for 1,565 yards and 17 touchdowns on 165 carries and caught 16 passes for 148 yards and four scores…was named the Etowah County MVP as a junior and the Class 3A MVP Region 7 as a sophomore and junior…as a senior, ran for 1,524 yards and 28 touchdowns and was a finalist for the Class 4A Back of the Year…was the ASWA Player of the Week after accounting for 415 yards of total offense – 288 rushing and four touchdowns on 23 carries and 127 receiving yards and two touchdowns on four receptions – in 68-48 win over Locust Fork…also plays baseball for the Lions.

BRETT STEVERSON
Offensive Lineman – 6-5 – 305 – Fitzgerald, Ga. – Fitzgerald HS
Played for head coach Jason Strickland at Fitzgerald High School in Fitzgerald, Ga…was and honorable mention all-state performer as a junior before earning first team all-state honors as a senior…a three-time all-region honoree…led the Purple Hurricane to two Region 1-AA Championships… guided FHS to a combined 44-7 record in his four years…rated a three-star recruit and the #71 offensive lineman in his class by Scout.com…received offers from Duke, Colorado State and Troy.

JOSH THOMPSON
Offensive Lineman – 6-4 – 285 – Dothan, Ala. – Rehobeth HS
Played for head coach Marcus Taylor at Rehobeth High School in Rehobeth, Ala…averaged a 90 percent grade on the offensive line in his senior season…team captain for the Rebels and earned All-WAC (Wiregrass Athletic Conference) honors…also the team MVP of the RHS basketball team…averages over 15 points and 12 rebounds per game for the Rebels…a member of the National Honor Society.
