OVC Tourney Primer: Morehead State

Morehead State might be the most interesting case in the tournament. They have two wins over Tennessee State, gave Belmont a scare at home. They want to play at a breakneck pace, but they’re far from the most disciplined team, and give a lot of their opponents a night of free-throw practice during the games. Winners of five of their last seven, the Redhawks are soaring into tournament play, led by an incredibly deadly three-point attack that put up an OVC record 20-threes last week, and followed it up with an impressive 12-19 performance in an upset over Murray State. Head coach Dickie Nutt says his team is playing his best basketball heading into the tournament, and there’s a lot of evidence to support his claim. Read More

OVC Tourney Primer: Eastern Illinois

If there were an award for most improved team throughout the season, it has to go to Eastern Illinois. The Panthers went from losing to an NAIA team at home in November, to an 11-game losing streak that included an 0-6 start in conference play, to not only in the tournament, but one of the stronger teams down the stretch.

OVC Tourney Primer: UT Martin

After a 1-7 start to OVC play, the Skyhawks went .500 in their last eight games of the season, squeaking into the 8th spot in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament. But even during their closing stretch, the Skyhawks were as up and down as anyone, beating the two and three seeds in the tournament, but also with some blowout losses to lower teams. Read More

AP announces finalists for next head football coach

Austin Peay State University will begin interviewing candidates this week for its vacant head football coaching position.

The position came open in late January when Rick Christophel stepped down after six seasons to become tight ends coach with the Arizona Cardinals. Read More
