Few teams in the OVC have their starting quarterback from this past year. That number may now be even smaller.
The Tennessean is reporting that Tennessee State quarterback Michael German, and defensive back Joseph Johnson, were both arrested and face felony vandalism charges. Both players have been indefinitely suspended, and are expected to miss spring practice.
The day is upon us. We’ve had important games before now this season, but nothing like this. For some teams, it’s another win or go home moment, while for the majority it’s their first.
As much as we talk about championship, this is truly the one that matters. Winning a regular season title makes for a nice trophy, and a banner drop from the rafters. But it’s often a hollow victory, if not followed with an appearance to the dance: the NCAA Tournament. The true “March Madness.”
You could make the case that Eastern Kentucky was the best surprise of the year. Behind a talented backcourt, the Colonels have gone from a team on the backburner, to a true contender for the conference title crown. And they’ve got a chip on their shoulder, as the team with the second best OVC record is relegated to the three-seed, and only a single-bye
Last year’s tournament runner-ups returned a huge portion of their team from last season’s championship game run, but found mixed success against the top of the conference. After a 6-0 start to OVC play, Tennessee State had mixed results down the stretch, with an overtime win on senior night the only thing standing between the Tigers and a 3-game losing streak heading into Nashville.
