Former Murray State commit DeMarcus Croaker has committed to Texas. The news was first reported by Reggie Rankin to ESPN, and appears to have been confirmed by Croaker himself through a string of retweets on Twitter about committing to the Longhorns.
The four-star recruit committed to the Racers just after the winter signing season, but decommitted last month after the Longhorns intensifies their efforts to land the recruit.
This is obviously be a huge loss for the Racers, who were hoping Croaker would eventually fill the hole left by Isaiah Canaan.
Technically, Murray State isn’t officially out of the race. Croaker can’t sign with Texas until April, and I’d be surprised if the Racers didn’t turn up the intensity themselves at this point. But having lost the recruit once, it will be hard, if not virtually impossible for Murray State to land the recruit, especially against a big six school likely offering him a starting position as a freshman.
