With Selection Sunday on the horizon, Murray State is making their postseason plans a bit more clear.
According to WPSD Local 6, Murray State head coach Steve Prohm says his team will only accept a bid to the National Invitational Tournament, (a.k.a. the NIT) not any other postseason tournament.
That could very likely mean the Racers will not play in the postseason at all. Prohm said earlier in the week that a call with the NIT selection committee left him with the impression their chances of making the postseason tournament weren’t great.
There’s no word on what ultimately led to the decision. But if not selected for the NIT, the Racers could be the second OVC team, along with Southeast Missouri, turning down bids to the College Basketball Insider Tournament (CBI) or the College Insider Tournament. (CIT)
Eastern Kentucky’s has made no announcement about their postseason plans.
Tennessee State has accepted a bid to the CIT.
