Former Southeast Missouri long snapper Brandon Gabbard has been invited to a mini-camp tryout with the New York Giants. The 6’5″ Gabbard will compete with other rookie prospects to make the squad list for the Giants.
Gabbard started each of the last four years as the Redhawks long snapper, playing in all 45 games of his career. He also made seven tackles and recovered a fumble on special teams.
Gabbard has been getting looks from NFL scouts since before his senior year began.
Gabbard is the third Ohio Valley Conference football player invited to mini-camps following the conclusion of the 2013 NFL Draft. Casey Brockman, QB (Murray State) — Seattle Seahawks and Quentin Sims, WR (UT Martin) — Atlanta Falcons are the others. At least nine other conference players have signed with NFL teams.
The New York Giants upcoming mini-camp is scheduled for May 10-12 at the Timex Performance Center in East Rutherford, N.J.
