While most teams are trying to narrow the list down for the quarterback position, it appears Tennessee Tech has found their guy after Darian Stone put up impressive numbers.
“Darian Stone played at a very high level today,” head coach Watson Brown said. “I think he kind of separated himself from the others.” Stone went 9 of 13 for 181 yards and two touchdowns as the offense ran 72 plays for 494 yards. The now junior QB took over after Tre Lamb went down with an injury last season playing the final four games for the Golden Eagles and said it made a difference this spring. “He’s running the team well and he’s very poised out there. He’s taking steps now that he might not have if he had been the backup in those four games.
On the ground it was Bud Golden running for 70 yards on nine carries and a touchdown. Also Ladarius Vanlier had a great game that included a 44 yard touchdown run, and a 42 yard reception.
While the offense put up the flashy numbers, the defense did post 4 sacks, a forced fumble and an interception caused by Jimmy Laughlin.
