With over two months to go to the NBA draft, seniors from across the nation are doing what they can to help ensure their name is called out. And three former Ohio Valley Conference players are hoping to join Isaiah Canaan in the NBA this year.
Ian Clark, Ed Daniel, and Robert Covington were named to the All-Tournament team at the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament. The P.I.T invites 64 potential NBA prospects for a four-day, twelve game tournament in front of representatives from every NBA team.
Covington was fourth in the tournament in scoring, averaging over 17 points a game, and pulled down almost nine rebounds a game. Daniel averaged 13 and 8, while Clark had 11 points, three rebounds, and two assists over the three games played.
No other OVC players played in the P.I.T.
Twelve players in all were named to the All-Tournament team. Brandon Davies of BYU was named the Tournament MVP. Davies played on the same team as Clark, who were the tournament champions.
Kevin Murphy played in the P.I.T. last year, and his reviews were mostly positive. Murphy was picked in the second round last year by the Utah Jazz.
