Southern Illinois and Southeast Missouri Athletics held a joint press conference in St. Louis today to officially announce the first ever football game in the new Busch Stadium, and they also released the first information about tickets.
Tickets will go on sale on June 3rd, and will start at $5 and $10 dollars.
During today’s joint press conference, the schools said they have about 40,000 alumni in St. Louis. Southeast Missouri’s president added that nearly 40 percent of this year’s freshmen class at Southeast is from the greater St. Louis region.
SEMO also has 24 players on their roster from the St. Louis area.
While it’s highly unlikely the teams can fill Busch Stadium, the novelty of the game could help boost attendance, as well as give great publicity for potential recruits.
SIU will play Southeast Missouri in St. Louis on September 21st. This year’s game will be the 81st meeting between the two programs.
