Eastern Illinois has had a busy spring, adding their fourth player to the fold. The Panthers have now signed JUCO guard Donald Moore.
The 6’1″ Moore played his freshman season at Blinn Junior College in Texas, averaging 10.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.9 steals per game for a team that advanced to the first round of the regional tournament. The Chicago product will have three years of eligibility remaining at EIU.
Moore played his prep basketball at Bloom Township High School in Chicago Heights for head coach Jasper Williams. He was a three-time All-Area selection earning honorable mention All-State as a junior and IBCA 3A/4A first team All-State as a senior. Moore averaged 17 points, 8 assists and 3 steals per game his season year to earn Southtown Player of the Year honors. As a senior he was the MVP of the McDipper Classic and rated a top twenty player in the state of Illinois.
“Donald gives us added quickness and scoring ability at the guard position,” said EIU head coach Jay Spoonhour. “He’s about as fast as anyone going from end to end. His ability to create shots is something that will be a big benefit to us.”
Highlights from Moore’s prep days are posted at the top of the article.
