Austin Peay is reaching into the JUCO ranks for a quarterback, and they’ve found one that has put some impressive stats. The Governors have added Andrew Spiveyfrom City College of San Francisco.

Last season, Spivey threw for over 3-thousand yards, 33 touchdowns, and only 10 interceptions, leading CCSF to second place in the California Community College Athletic Association.

The Governors are looking to replace outgoing quarterback Jake Ryan, who graduated after a tough senior campaign saw Austin Peay finish in a tie for last place in the OVC. Rising junior Jacob Sexton was No. 2 on the Governors depth chart last season, and had just seven passing attempts. Rising sophomore Timarious Mitchell was also on last year’s roster.

Spivey should be a competitor, if not a favorite to land the Governors starting job. At the very least, he adds some collegiate experience to a very young quarterbacking corps.
