With recruiting for this next year mostly wrapped up across the OVC, many programs are looking ahead to the next season. The Bruins are one such program, earning a commitment from 6’7″ forward Amanze Egekeze.
“The people there really blew me away and sold it for me,” Egekeze told the Elgin Courier News. “I felt leaving the visit that Belmont was the place for me. Nashville is a great city and the players were awesome. It was a no-brainer for me at that point.”
A native of Huntley, Illinois, Egekeze comes from a very successful Illinois Wolves AAU program. According to the Courier news, Egekeze had at least five college offers on the table following his junior season.
Egekeze missed the first half of his junior season after undergoing surgery to help alleviate knee tendonitis, but upon his return averaged 12.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.9 blocks upon his return.
“It’s good to have this off my shoulders going into the end of the AAU season,” Egekeze told the paper. “The (recruiting) process takes a little bit of a toll on you, but it’s great to have that sense of relief. I couldn’t be happier with this decision and I feel like I’m going to have a great time at Belmont.”
