In what has become somewhat of a yearly ritual at Murray State, head basketball coach Steve Prohm and head football coach Chris Hatcher have received a one-year contract extension. Both now remain under contract through the 2017-18 school years.
According to WPSD Local 6, neither coach received a raise to go with their extension.
In Kentucky, no public school official can have a contract longer than four years. Ward says he likes his coaches under full four-year contracts so there is never a concern about their futures on the recruiting trail.
That’s assuming, of course, the coaches don’t decide to head to a different job. Which both have been connected to and presumably interviewed for over the past two years.
Prohm is an impressive 52-12 in two seasons at Murray State. Hatcher is entering his fourth year as he attempts to turn around the Racers football program. He is 18-15 over three seasons.
