If you want to look ahead a year, Belmont is in the need of guards. Sure, this upcoming season they have J.J. Mann, but into the season after there isn’t a lot of known depth.
So, how about a guard recruited for the ACC? Sound good?
According to College Basketball Talk, Belmont has added former Virginia guard Taylor Barnette. The former Cavalier played less than 10 minutes as a game as a freshman, and according to the site is leaving the program so he can play a larger role.
Barnette will have three years of eligibility remaining after sitting out this upcoming season.
In his limited play as a freshman, Barnette averaged 2.6 points and shot 42.3 percent from three-point range. The Lexington, Ky., native started Virginia’s season opener at George Mason, and shot 13 of 25 from beyond the arc over the final 15 games of the year.
In all, 44 of Barnette’s 51 total field goal attempts were three-pointers.
I think he’ll fit right in at Belmont.
