Morehead State, which already easily leads the OVC in summer signees, has added another. Aary Bibens, a 6’4 guard from Mount Anthony Union High School in Vermont, will join the Morehead State this fall. He’s another true freshman, meaning he has the full four years of college eligibility.
“Our staff is really looking forward to working with Aary,” head coach Sean Woods said. “I’m excited about our backcourt moving forward, and Aary factors into that equation. He can play either guard position and will give us good depth.”
That may be the understatement of the summer, as Bibens addition is at least the eighth made to the Eagles roster between winter and spring signings. This wasn’t exactly a team losing a ton of seniors to begin with.
Bibens earned First-Team All-Marble Valley League accolades his final two prep seasons. He averaged 20 points and 11 rebounds as a senior in 2012-13 after posting 19 points and 10 boards per contest as a junior in 2011-12. Again, he’s a guard, averaging double-digit rebounds. That fits in perfectly to what Woods’ team accomplished last season on the boards.
“We’re glad Aary has decided to join us at Morehead State,” Woods added. “Aary is a big-time athlete, with lots of intangibles that will help us. He can score, rebound, pass and defend — all qualities that we look for in the recruiting process.”
