Coming into the start of fall practice the Murray State quarterback room had three, with two tabbed to do battle for the opening job. Well on Monday there was five players in the red jersey’s, a freshmen and a new transfer from Ole Miss, Maikhail Miller who is sure to try and make it a three horse race until the season opener at Missouri.
Today in Miller’s first practice he saw action with both the first and second team offense putting himself in position to give both K.D. Humphries and Parks Frazier competition for the opening left by Casey Brockman.
Just like the rest of the OVC, head coach Chris Hatcher will have his hands full trying to choose a quarterback for this season. Miller joins former Southern Alabama quarterback C.J. Bennett as transfers into the program for the QB battle. Bennett arrived in the spring and took place in the Racers spring workouts.
Miller is a sophomore for the Racers this upcoming season and saw action for the Rebels in two games running the ball six times for 23 yards and attempted no passes. Coming out of high school Miller was ranked by ESPN.com as the 20th best in the class, Rivals had him 23rd for pro-style quarterbacks.
