No more undefeated teams on the list but it doesn’t mean we don’t see one team running the table in the conference. Behind the top two teams in the conference we are lost, but it’s time for our weekly attempt at ranking the conference.

What to say about the Panthers except they are now top five in the nation and deservingly so. The Panthers continue their dominance but take a bye week, something Dino Babers said his team needs. Special team struggles did continue with two blocked field goals.

This is the moment where we at the site take a bow, we did say there was potential for a close game against the Redhawks and we were right. The balanced Skyhawks seem to do everything they need to succeed, even if the rest of the coaches don’t recognize it. They take on stiffer competition that like them has yet to name a starting quarterback this weekend.

The Tigers continue to show improvement, even though it was against a team no one had ever heard of. If that’s what it takes to jump start the offense then who are we to question them. Michael German is coming off a perfect 8 of 8 game for 159 yards and seems to be getting back to the player we saw just last year.

We can officially say the Colonels are in trouble on the offensive side of the ball. J.J. Jude proved that his 195 yard performance was a blimp on the radar and words can’t explain Jared McClain right now. He has yet to show up in a big game situation and Dean Hood need’s to find answers quick.

The Racers defense comes up huge but still allows over 600 yards but hey a win covers up those mistakes right? The offense shows that they are willing to change things up if teams gameplan for only the vertical attack as quarterback Maikhail Miller and running backs proved they can carry the team. A quick look at the Racers schedule shows they could keep a two in the loss column for awhile.

Coming off a tough first loss of the season, the Gamecocks are who we thought a team dependent on the ground game. Hand the ball off to either DeMarcus James or Troymaine Pope and let one of the OVC’s top running duos do their thing.

The Golden Eagles are having headaches, (ok that was really mean) but its true. Wide receiver Cody Matthews and QB Darian Stone both have suffered concussions and after waiting four games for Bud Golden to play, he lasts three quarters before suffering a season ending broken leg. Coach Watson Brown says his team is their most healthy though coming into the Murray State game.

The quarterback “battle” if you still want to call it that continues in Cape Girardeau but it looks like the Redhawks are willing to throw the ball. This team has been making progress in each of their losses, making them dangerous to an opponent that overlooks them.

Coming off a bye week, things don’t get any easier for the Govs who are searching for their first win on the year. Quarterback Andrew Spivey got a vote of confidence from Head Coach Kirby Cannon during the teleconference hinting that we could see a passing attack soon.
