Don’t be deceived by the final rankings, there was quite a lot of difference between our Power Ranking ballots this week, they just seemed to average out cleanly. One thing that’s clear: a team’s record doesn’t mean much of anything, it’s all about who you’re beating. Or in far too many cases, who you’re not.

The Bruins have another test coming into Nashville Sunday, as they host ranked VCU in a highly anticipated matchup. They'll be without Reese Chamberlain for two weeks, who is out with a stress fracture in his right foot.

EKU's schedule is about to get a lot harder, and as a result we'll see how the Colonels fare against stiffer competition. After the Kennesaw State Tournament, we haven't really seen much of EKU, but they stay No. 2 for now.

I actually broke ranks with the rest of the voters, and put Morehead State above EKU. They notched another very good win last night, and are off to their best start since the 1983-84 season.

Another team that stays in their spot because we just haven't seen much of them lately. Right now, it's clear the West Division could be theirs for the taking, as no one looks wholly impressive right now.

It's still hard to see Tennessee Tech breaking up the East Division trifecta at the top of the Power Rankings, but the Golden Eagles are showing they're much improved. We still need to see some more on the road, as TTU has struggled somewhat outside of Cookeville.

Austin Peay is tied for 5th in the Power Rankings, has zero really impressive wins, and an RPI of 292. This is as much a result of the downturn in the OVC as it is the upturn in Governors basketball through the first three weeks.

Getting doubled-up on the boards is a recipe for disaster, and that's exactly what happened in the Panthers loss to IPFW earlier this week. The Panthers seem improved, and could be poised to take advantage in the West.

Oh boy. Murray still doesn't have a Division I win under it's belt, and looked lifeless in a loss to Middle Tennessee in their own building. That would have been a bad loss in Murphysboro. It's a terrible one at the Bank.

UT Martin and Jacksonville State may have more wins than SIUE, but I can't help but feel the Cougars are the better team. The defense needs work, but if you can put up 85 points a night, you're going to win quite a few games.

How is the only winless team remaining not last? Because they're playing better; they've just faced superior competition. They have a few good chances to pick up their first win in the next two weeks.

The Gamecocks are on a three-game winning streak, but looked less than impressive in wins over two non-Division I teams. Still, wins are wins, but the schedule gets much tougher from here.

This team should not be this bad. Martin is 2-3 at home, with those wins being squeakers against non-Division I team. All three of those losses were easily winnable games. Things are not looking bright for the Skyhawks, but there's still a lot of season left.

Cant argue with any of that. To me APSU is the fifth best team with TTU following. However, im still not sold on SEMO

Neither am I...but someone has to go fourth, and no one else has really staked their claim.
