Ian Clark (Belmont)

Team: Utah Jazz (4-18 Last in Northwest Division)

News: Clark hasn’t seen the floor since November 24th when played 11 minutes in a loss to OKC. Clark scored 5 points in that game and dished out a pair of assists. We all know Clark can shoot and when he is gets his opportunity I expect him to succeed in the league. The website jazzfanatical did a nice piece this week on “Getting to Know Ian Clark.”

Highlights: There are no stats from last week since he didn’t play but how about we go back to the highlights from the summer when Clark was awarded the Summer League MVP.

Isaiah Canaan (Murray State)

News: Isaiah Canaan has been playing well with the Vipers and according to Houston Rockets blog, Spacecityscoop.com, the Mississippi native may be close to a call up. Isaiah is averaging over 21 points to go along with his NBADL leading 9.3 assists per game. He was also named the D-League co-performer of the week this past week.

Yeremiah Bell (Eastern Kentucky)

Team: Arizona Cardinals (8-5 3rd in NFC West)

News: The safety from EKU has picked off two passes this season and has 58 tackles. Bell is part of a defense that ranks 5th in the NFL  for a team that is trying to sneak into the playoffs.

Last weeks game: This past Sunday the Cardinals defeated the Rams 30-10. Bell had two tackles in the game.

Tony Romo (Eastern Illinois)

Team: Dallas Cowboys (7-5 2nd in NFC East)

News: Romo has thrown for 24 touchdowns this season and over 3,000 yards. He gets ready for a big game against the Bears tonight and will have to play through some elements.

Video: ESPN First Take-Is Tony Romo a Top Five QB?

Da ‘Rick Rogers (Tennessee Tech)

Team: Indianapolis Colts (8-5 1st in AFC South)

News: The Colts were beat pretty badly by the Bengals but Rogers had a game to remember. Rogers hauled in 6 catches one for 69 yards and had two receiving touchdowns. The Colts are hurting at the receiver position and some think that this will allow Da’Rick Rodgers to shine.

Edgar Jones (SEMO)

Team: Cowboys (7-5 2nd NFC East)

News: Jones has been hurt but the Cowboys are going to be patient with his return.

  1. Chuck Hammer:
What about Lester Hudson, Jerod Newsome, and Montori Hughes all from UTM
    • Steve Peake:
I am not sure where Lester is currently playing. I can look it up but I was sure he got waived by the Jazz. Montori Hughes will be included next week. Sorry about that. For those wondering Hughes (Colts) had one tackle yesterday in the loss.
  2. Justin F:
Dan Connolly from SEMO has been in the NFL since 2005 and currently starts at guard for the New England Patriots.
    • Steve Peake:
I'll be sure to add him, offensive lineman don't have many stats but it would be nice to at least recognize him as well. Thank you.
      • Justin F:
Yes, not a lot of tangible stats for O-lineman. He has started 51 games for the Patriots. The one notable stat for Connolly is that he set the record for longest kickoff return by an offensive lineman in NFL history by returning a squib kick for 71 yards in 2010.
  3. Matt Brucker:
Marland Smith from SEMO was playing basketball in Europe. Fairly certain he still is.
    • Steve Peake:
Since there are so many former OVC players playing in other countries, I am going to update one OVC teams alumni every week.
