Southern Illinois fell to Murray State 73-65 on Tuesday night, but the best part of the night came after the game, when Salukis Head Coach Barry Hinson had a postgame press conference to remember.

Hinson starts off saying he would keep it calm, but comments by the second year coach had his face turning red on the first question. The comments included my phone getting hit by a rolled up piece of paper talking about how to train a dog, sexual innuendo, and why his wife would hit more shots than some of his players.

He also references Seal Team Six sniping his players on fast breaks, and says his players must think turnovers are tax credits. It’s simply six minutes of awesome.

The Salukis are 2-8 on the season after the loss to the Racers. SIU also lost to Austin Peay earlier in the seaosn

Wondering how his players are taking the rant? Not particularly well. The tweet has since been deleted, but Davante Drinkard had something to say on Twitter.

UPDATE: Coach Hinson appeared on the Dan Patrick Show Wednesday morning to discuss his postgame comments. Hinson said he regretted calling out his players by name but still stood by his comments about the team. Here is the full audio and yes his wife joined in on the interview.

"My wife...MY WIFE can go 2-11 on buckets, because I know my wife would at least shot fake once!" That's the best, hand down. Either that or "bad dog"

    Fantastic.

"I swear, one time, that I thought I heard one of my players say 'Merry Christmas.'" Omg. Hilarious!

Not saying I didn't get a kick out of this. The "size doesn't matter" got me chuckling, but this could have been a lot better/worse. You have to hit the innuendo better next time coach. Toppers on Top, All Day Every Day. Murray County is about to get the beating of their lives. #HT4L

You should probably worry about Southern Miss before you start getting all worked up about the "Murray County Mules" (Does Dahbeed know you're plagiarizing his material?). Next you'll be thumping your chest about your "Big Win" over UNC-Wilmington or Western's annual triumphs in the PIG games.
  8. Steve Peake:
"They must think it's a tax credit"

Ya know what Davante? The fact that you call your coach "little man" says it all. You don't respect him is why you don't play well for him. Yeah, what he said should piss you off....that's why he said it. He wants you guys to get fired up and play better and try to prove him wrong. Instead you did just what he said you do, more or less rolled your eyes and "shook your head". Wanna make a difference? Play ball to do good and prove the coach what you can do. I've been cussed at and chewed out before in sports and otherwise...you know why? I needed it to motivate me to be better and get myself refocused. That's how you need to look at that....not to disrespect your coach. If I had the lead, I'd bench your ass the rest of the season for your comments.

He wants to start treating his players like Dogs? Did I hear right?
