The Racers are surging, the Panthers are free-falling, and no changes at the top in this week’s Power Rankings

Belmont hasn't played since the last Power Rankings, so no news is good news for the team at the top. They're hitting the road for the next four games, including a trip to the University of Kentucky. Can the Bruins pull off another huge upset in a historic building?

Seriously, can January 16th hurry up and get here? EKU versus Belmont has all the markings of a great conference battle. They get their biggest challenge yet on Saturday, when they face No. 4 Wisconsin

The Redhawks have won five straight, and lead the league in offensive efficiency. (22nd in the nation in points per possession as well) They can score, they can rebound, and their defense is playing fairly well. That's a great recipe for success.

They've lost two of three, but let's not count our Morehead State just yet. They're second in the conference in defense and using their tempo to score 77 points a game. You're also going to be hard pressed to find a better rebounder than Chad Posthumus in any league

Here come the Racers? Murray State is on a two game winning streak, and the cavalry is arriving. They were narrow wins at home, so I'm holding off saying they're fully back, but the Racers aren't going to go quietly. (And did anyone really expect them to, anyway?)

Tennessee Tech has only played three true road games this season, and yet to win one. That's noteworthy because five of their next six games are all away from Cookeville.

After two years of a brutal schedule, Austin Peay ranks 327th this year in SOS, and are just 4-5. The bad loss at Samford, not just that they lost but how, is especially worrisome, but the Governors have plenty of time to bounce back.

The Skyhawks ranked 12th in our Power Rankings two weeks ago, but have won two straight, and won them solidly. They're still not at full strength yet, and absolutely could be in the mix in the West Division

AGAIN?!?! Another narrow, heartbreaking loss on the Cougars resume this year. SIUE's offense is good; it could be great if they could get to the free-throw line, and limit the turnovers.

The James Green defense made a return this week, with a dominating performance over lowly Alcorn State. The Gamecocks held the Braves to 29% shooting, and forced 15 turnovers in the win. They need their defense to step up, because the Gamecocks aren't going to win in a shootout often

Here's the silver lining if you're an EIU fan: this team was just as bad at this point last year. Sure, not the most reassuring of statements, but if you're going to struggle, you want to do it in December, not February.

You're killing me! Going forward, we're gonna need to see more puns in regards to Morehead's Posthumous.
