Hours after the resignation of Bill Clark, offensive coordinator John Grass was selected to replace his former boss and become the 14th head coach in the program’s history.
Grass follows in the footsteps of Clark by becoming a coach to lead his alma mater. Grass served as coordinator last season for the Gamecocks that saw the team go 11-4. Grass graduated from Jacksonville State in 1990 with a degree in physical education. He also received his Masters of Physical Education from JSU in 1997.
Before Grass came to Jacksonville State he was head coach at Oxford High School from 2008-2012. In his time at Oxford, he posted five straight winning seasons and had a record of 41-16. He helped the Yellowjackets reach the playoffs four out of the five seasons he was there, including the schools first-ever appearance in the Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 6A State semi-finals in 2011.
Grass will be formally introduced Thursday at 5 p.m. on the fifth floor of Stadium Tower at Burgess-Snow Field.
