I mentioned last week that this may not always be in video format and because of work, this is one of those times. If you are new to this segment, it is five key elements from the game I covered the night before.

1. The Illinois road trip

What is it about OVC teams going on the road to take on SIUE and EIU in back-to-back contest? Four of the top six OVC teams have made that trip so far this season and only one came out if it unscathed.

Is it the distance? Well Morehead might have something to say about that. The Eagles had the most miles to go, yet they were the most successful. EKU and Murray State were both beaten by SIUE after defeating EIU. But Austin Peay couldn’t figure either schools out.

Are these teams taking the Illinois schools too lightly?

Is it the environment that makes it tough? SIUE has a smaller but modern gymnasium, (that I am a huge fan of) if they put any type of a crowd in there, it can get loud. At Lantz Arena, the crowds are quiet with attendance numbers consistently under 1,000.

Is in the contrast in crowds?

Or am I just not giving EIU and SIUE enough credit?
