Five things to take from last night’s game.

1. Here’s what happened

SIU-Edwardsville-Power-Rankings 83 Austin-Peay-Power-Rankings 68

Heading into the final four games Austin Peay could not afford many more losses if they want to see Municipal Auditorium. With games against EKU and then on the road  Morehead State and SEMO  on the horizon last night’s home game versus SIU-Edwardsville was very important.

For the first 30 minutes the game went back and forth. Cory Arentsen hit a three to give the Governors a 53-50 lead with 10:48 left in the game.

Even when SIUE tied it up with an old-fashioned three point play courtesy of Keaton Jackson, APSU responded with an Ed Dyson lay up to take the lead back at 55-53.

Rozell Nunn gave the Cougars the lead with a jumper with 8:25 left to play and the Cougars would never look back.

Nunn’s three pointer just before the last media timeout gave SIUE their first double-digit lead of the game at 70-60.

Austin Peay struggled to bridge the gap, connecting on just one field goal attempt in the final six minutes forty-four seconds, paving the way to a big win for the Cougars and a loss the Governors’ couldn’t afford.
