In front of what will be the biggest crowd EKU sees this season, 8,242 a sell out at Carolina Stadium, EKU fought till the very end. Unforunately, again the Gamecocks extend their consecutive shutout innings to 42.
One pitch and that’s all it took for the South Carolina Gamecocks to beat the Eastern Kentucky Colonels 2-0.
Like every other game this week the sixth inning put the nail in the coffin. With Conner Bright on second after a 1 out double Grayson Griener sent one 4 rows deep in left field. That would be the games entire scoring.
Leading the way offensively for the Colonels was TJ Alas who went 1-2 with a single and a walk.
Defensively Tanner Perkins would pitch 6 innings giving up 7 hits and 2 runs and 1 strikeout. He would be relieved by Logan Hershenow who would strike out 2 and give up 1 hit in 2 innings of work.
South Carolina starting pitcher was lights out the entire game pitching 7.1 innings striking out 10 Colonels.
Tomorrow is the final game of the series with first pitch at 1:30 pm. EKU will send senior Myles Scott to the mound and South Carolina will send freshman Will Crowe to the mound.
