Four players from the Ohio Valley Conference made their way to Indianapolis for NFL Combine this weekend. Competing in drills, physicals, Wonderlic tests, interviews, players fought for attention in hopes of getting drafted into the NFL.

A.C. Leonard- Tight End- Tennessee State

Leonard battled injuries last season for the Tigers but when he was healthy, the Tigers offense was at a different level. Leonard’s performance at the Combine will be getting him more workouts as he ranked near the top in almost every category.

Jimmy Garoppolo- Quarterback- Eastern Illinois

The OVC record book for quarterbacks is called the Garoppolo book, and Garoppolo’s biggest question was his height and hand size. Coming in at 6’2 frame with 9 1/4″ hands he meets the requirement for quarterback hands according to scouts. Garoppolo was one of the few QB’s that did throw during the combine.

Kadeem Edwards- Offensive Line- Tennessee State

Probably the long shot of the four from the OVC to hear his named called on draft day, Edwards performed well enough at the Senior Bowl to get invited to Indy. Edwards has the versatility to play every position on the offensive line, something coaches like in the NFL as small rosters require the ability for more than just a guard or tackle.

Walter Powell- Wide Receiver- Murray State

Powell was the player to watch for most scouts as he hadn’t played since an injury suffered against Eastern Illinois. Powell’s pro prospects are likely to be his ability to return kicks and punts while being a slot receiver. However, Powell’s numbers on the day weren’t that impressive against a very deep draft.
