[Update: The OVC has since apologized for their tweets. Read the full statement here.]

Last night, Murray State won a Tournament championship. While this was absolutely huge for Racer Nation, it’s not hard to get the feeling that not everyone noticed.

Including maybe even the Ohio Valley Conference.

According to fans, it took about an hour for the OVC to tweet out much of anything about the Racers championship. They did get out two tweets: retweeting a MSURacers tweet with a picture of the team holding up the trophy, and then this:

Great, right? Right…?

No, not great, at least according to many Racers fans, who noticed the OVC wasn’t actually at the game, and weren’t happy with the delay. They took to twitter to complain to the OVC’s official account, @OVCSports, and I don’t think they got the response they were looking for.

While I do understand the Ohio Valley Conference is extermely busy, their response probably could have been a bit more professional.

Or silent. Silent might have worked better.

(Two notes about this story: 1) A reminder that we at OVC Ball are completely independent of the OVC, and 2) We weren’t at the game either. I haven’t traveled to a single game during the week this season, due to my shifts at my job. Sorry guys. I did tweet out my congratulations within minutes. I did watch on TV :D)

Not enough! You should have been there in a horsehead mask!!!!!
    • ovcball:
I'll make up for it. I swear.
  2. The Racer Hobo™:
As I tweeted, "Is a intern running the @OVCSPORTS twitter page this morning? Does not seem to be very professional, regardless of tweets sent to them" They would be better off not to reply, they may be busy with the Final Four thing and have been unable to do anything till after the fact, but the way they replied was just awful.
    • ovcball:
I agree completely. I don't think it was the usual person running their twitter account, but still, you have to realize that you're representing the entire conference when you do something like that.
  3. Bret Shroats:
    It was just the CIT.
    • ovcball:
*backs away slowly* I think most Racer fans understand that. It's still exciting, though. Not every season an OVC team make a deep run in any postseason tournament, much less wins one.
    • randyism:
Yes, but they defeated powerhouse Yale, which offers no athletic scholarships, and paid for home court advantage. IT IS SUCH A BIG DEAL!!!
