Eastern Kentucky and Murray State are meeting this weekend with both fighting for the last OVC Tournament spot. Murray State wins game one 6-1.
Murray State (22-28, 13-15 OVC) was coming off a win over Kentucky while EKU (23-30, 11-17 OVC) is coming off a win over Ohio.
Murray State would strike first with a Tyler Lawerance three run home run. A couple of batters later Matt McGowan would lay down a sacrifice bunt to bring in the fourth run if the third inning.
Luke Wurzelbacher would put the Colonels on the board in the fifth with a RBI double.
EKU would load the bases up in the eighth but failed to get any closer.
Murray State thought they had a run in the eighth on a sac fly but the runner left the base early and it became a double play.
EKU errors in the ninth would allow two runs to score for Murray State making it 6-1.
Eastern Kentucky would get the first two batters on in the ninth but fall to Murray State 6-1.
With the loss the season will end on Saturday for EKU and Murray State still has playoff hopes alive.
The two teams will meet tomorrow at 4 pm.
