Murray State clinched the final series of the regular season with a 8-3 victory over Eastern Kentucky.
With the win Murray State (23-28, 14-15 OVC) must win tomorrow and hope EIU loses a game and SIU-E loses tonight and tomorrow.
Murray State would start the scoring off in the first with Michael Hargrove driving in a run with two outs.
Eastern Kentucky (23-30, 11-17 OVC) Bryan Soloman tripled and Ben Fisher singled to give the Colonels a 2-1 lead. Kyle Nowlin hit a triple in the second to drive in Doug Teegarden.
Anthony Bayus and Kollin Dowdy hit back to back home runs in the fifth to tie the game up at 3-3.
Matt McGowan would give the Racers the lead back with a double.
Dowdy hit his second home run of the game in the seventh to give the Racers a 5-3 advantage.
Murray State would add a run on in the ninth with a Matt McGowan sac fly. Then would add two insurance runs in the ninth to give the Racers a 8-3 lead.
EKU and Murray State will battle for the last time of the season tomorrow at 1 p.m.
