Jacksonville State has added JUCO transfer JaQuail Townser to their backcourt. The 6’3 guard signed after two season at Southwestern Illinois College.
“JaQuail is a very good student, in the classroom and on the court,” Jacksonville State head coach James Green said of his latest signee. “His commitment to both will help us in all areas, and he truly wants to be the best in all phases. We are excited to have a point guard with his ability and leadership in our program.”
He served two seasons as the Blue Storm’s point guard, leading SWIC to 19 wins as a sophomore and 22 as a freshman. In his sophomore campaign, he earned first team all-region honors after averaging 14.1 points, five assists, two steals and over three rebounds per game.
Townser shot just under 44 percent from the floor and over 37 percent from behind the arc, while converting on 73 percent of his free throws. His assist-to-turnover ratio of almost two and his steals per game average each ranked in the top 10 in the Great Rivers Athletic Conference (GRAC).
