UT Martin has added a 7’2 center to their crowded 2014-15 recruiting class, signing Nick Detlev, out of Andrews Osborne Academy in Willoughby, Ohio.
“We are really excited to add Nick,” head coach Heath Schroyer said. “He obviously has great size and length. He is a late bloomer and his best basketball is definitely ahead of him. He’s not a finished product yet but he’s a young man who has a willingness to work hard. We are excited about the opportunity to develop him over the next four years.”
A Euclid, Ohio native, Detlev became the first boys basketball player at Andrews Osborne to reach the 1,000 point club in 2013-14. He also became the first player in school history to be crowned an All-Ohio selection, as he was named third team all-state.
Detlev is the tallest player in UT Martin history, passing 7-footer Ned Rolsma (2000-02).
