Austin Peay will be without two starters from last year’s 0-13 team in 2014: Wide receiver Darryl Clack will be suspended for the season, and quarterback Andrew Spivey will transfer from the program.
According to the Leaf-Chronicle, Clack is suspended for a “violation of team rules.” Austin Peay head coach Kirby Cannon says Clack may be eligible to return to the team in January.
Spivey’s transfer is less of a surprise. The rising senior played through a shoulder injury in 2013, and has lost his starting role to Central Arkansas transfer Trey Taylor.
The Governors offense, which ranked last in nearly every statistical category last year, will not return a major statistical leader from last year’s team. Spivey led the team in passing, Clack in receiving, and last season’s leading rusher, Omar Williams was dismissed from the team for academic reasons last spring.
