Belmont University men’s basketball received the second annual Team Academic Excellence Award from the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Wednesday.
This news comes two days after five Bruins – recent graduates J.J. Mann and Drew Windler, and rising seniors Reece Chamberlain, Holden Mobley and Spencer Turner – were named to the NABC Honors Court for outstanding academic achievement.
Created by the NABC Committee on Academics, the Team Academic Excellence Award recognizes superior academic achievement by a team with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better for the 2013-14 season.
In order to earn a NABC Team Academic Excellence Award, an institution must count the grade point averages of all men’s student-athletes competing during the 2013-14 season in NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA Division I and II.
Belmont is one of only 31 NCAA Division I men’s basketball programs to be honored.
