Already slated to play two games on ESPN3 and the season opener on the Big Ten Network, five additional Eastern Illinois football games will be televised during the 2014 season. The added games will air on WEIU (4 home games) and Comcast SportsNet Chicago (1 road game).
The road game on Comcast SportsNet Chicago will be the Panthers Sept. 13 contest at Illinois State in the 103rd playing of the Mid-America Classic. The game will be a 12 p.m. kickoff.
The four home games will be carried regionally by WEIU TV. The package kicks off with the home opener on Sept. 6 against Southern Illinois with a 6 p.m. start. The Panthers Family Weekend game on Sept. 20 will be a 1:30 p.m. start on WEIU. The Panthers two home November contests against Murray State and UT Martin will be carried on WEIU. The game with Murray State is a 12 p.m. kick off on Nov. 8 in what will be Kid’s Day. The game with UT Martin is a 12 p.m. kick off on Nov. 22 in what will be Senior Day.
The Panthers opener at Minnesota will be carried on the Big Ten Network with a 6 p.m. kick off on Thursday, Aug. 28. EIU has two games on ESPN3 as part of the Ohio Valley Conference Game of the Week package. The first appearance is at home on Oct. 25 when the Panthers host Tennessee State for Homecoming at 1:30 p.m. The other ESPN3 appearance is on Nov. 15 at Jacksonville State with a 3 p.m. kick off.
The remaining six OVC games not part of the ESPN3 package and the Panthers home opener with SIU will be available on the OVC Digital Network (www.ovcdigitalnetwork.com), the OVC’s digital streaming platform. Currently the only game that has not announced a start time or broadcast option is the EIU game at Ohio on Sept. 27.
